Loerie design judge announced

Garrick Hamm, creative partner at the London design consultancy, Williams Murray Hamm (WMH), will be the Communication Design jury chairman at the Loeries judging, which takes place from 5-13 July 2011. He will give a talk at the Judges Seminar on 5 July 2011 for industry professionals, students and media.

Loerie Awards adds PR category for 2011

The Loerie Awards has introduced a PR category to this year's awards. Public Relations Industry of Southern Africa (PRISA) spokesperson Bridget von Holdt believes the move is indicative of the importance of strategic communication in the overall communication mix and that the inclusion of PR exposes other industries to the real value of strategic communication and its vital role in brand management.

Tickets on sale for 2011 Loeries

Tickets for The 33rd Annual Loerie Awards are on sale as of 12pm today, Monday, 18 April 2011. The festival weekend, hosted in Cape Town, will take place from 16-18 September. Tickets can be booked on the Loeries website via the new electronic booking system.

Red carpet treatment for Loeries

In line with international festivals, the 33rd Annual Loerie Awards have upscaled and this year the festival weekend, 16-18 September 2011, features black tie affairs, with red carpet, at its new venue, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). Tickets to the awards ceremonies are limited to 1500 per night and an additional 1000 tickets will be available for the Official Party.

Loeries 2011 opens for entries, categories revised

The Loerie Awards launched its 2011 campaign, Tuesday 15 March 2011, entitled "Don't hate. Create", created by Draftfcb and supported by a mobisite and specially developed augmented reality apps, linking digital technology to the printed media, along with a revamp of its award categories.

Official 2010 Loeries rankings

While there can be many ways of analysing any competition, this year the Loeries has introduced official winners rankings which aim to be a transparent mechanism for reporting the outcome of the awards. With the release of the printed Loeries annual, additional rankings will be published, including top 10 tables for all the individual credits, eg ECD, illustrator, writer and director, as well as post production/VFX, etc.

Four Loerie Grands Prix this year

Four Grands Prix were handed out this past weekend at the 32nd annual The Loerie Awards, held for the second time at Good Hope Centre in Cape Town: King James once again in TV & Cinema Commercials for Allan Gray's 'Legend'; the VWV Group in Experiential: Live Events for the 2010 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony; Boogerman+ Partners Architects in Architecture & Interior Design for Soccer City aka FNB Stadium aka National Stadium; and Grid Worldwide Branding and Tonic Design in Design Mixed-Media Campaign for the Comair/British Airways SLOW Lounge.

Fall in entries for Digital Loeries points to adoption issues
