M-Net, the South African pay-television channel, has been sub-licensed the rights of its Africa Magic content to international distributor Thema TV in a partnership that will see a selection of Nollywood content translated into French, to be broadcast to the French-speaking regions of Africa.

EES wins Cape Town Film Studios contract

Electrical Engineering Solutions (EES) has been awarded the contract to project manage the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure, from construction to operational service provisioning, for Cape Town Film Studios (CTFS), claimed to be South Africa's first major, Hollywood-style film studio in Cape Town. The R430-million project will be fully operational by the end of 2010.

ACP launches film production support programme

The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) presents the ACP-EU Support Programme for the ACP Cinema and Audiovisual Sector. The Secretariat of the ACP Group of States and the European Union have designed a new support programme for the ACP audiovisual sector, ACP Films (ie. cinema and television). ACP Films is managed by the ACP Secretariat and financed by the 9th European Development Fund (EDF).

Business TV news network CNBC Africa confirmed the departure of COO Trevor Ormerod to Primedia today, Wednesday, 5 December 2007 in a press statement, also confirming that current head of programming, Gary Alfonso, will be taking over as acting COO until a final decision is made regarding the position.
