Four BBC Worldwide channels for DStv

BBC Worldwide Channels, in partnership with MultiChoice Africa, has said that it will launch four new channels - BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Knowledge and BBC CBeebies - from 1 September 2008 on the DStv platform to replace and build upon the success of its existing channels, BBC Prime and BBC Food. Africa's Olympic win

The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) has concluded an agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to acquire the free-to-air broadcast rights for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) presents the ACP-EU Support Programme for the ACP Cinema and Audiovisual Sector. The Secretariat of the ACP Group of States and the European Union have designed a new support programme for the ACP audiovisual sector, ACP Films (ie. cinema and television). Privately-owned Cameroonian TV station under suspension

On 21 February 2008, Cameroon's Communication Minister, Emmanuel Béyiyi Bi Essam, issued an order for the suspension of Equinoxe TV. The order was purportedly issued on the grounds that its owner, Séverin Tchounkeu, had not paid the required licence bond of 100 millions CFA francs (approx. 150,000 euros) and was therefore operating illegally.
