JOHANNESBURG: South African-based brand and reputation intelligence company, Ornico has entered the Nigerian market through a joint venture partnership with Lagos-based investment group, AData. Established in 1984 by Oresti and Spero Patricios, Ornico has offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town and Nigeria.

Nigerian media call for president to transfer power

The heads of 17 Nigerian media organisations have called for ailing president Umaru Yar'Adua to formally transfer power to vice president Goodluck Jonathan within seven days or resign. The owners of the country's top newspapers and media organisations issued a joint statement on Wednesday, 3 February 2010.

Gateway rolls out wireless broadband in Nigeria

<>LAGOS: Gateway Communications Nigeria, headquartered in Lagos, late last week announced a contract with Cambridge Broadband Networks to create a point to multipoint broadband wireless network in Nigeria. Gateway will use Cambridge Broadband's VectaStar II platform to provision 130 hubs and 5000 terminal stations to deliver broadband connections across Nigeria.

Alcatel-Lucent to build 3G broadband network in Togo

Ivorians protest at state media

At least 3,000 people marched through the streets of Abidjan in Ivory Coast on Tuesday, 26 January 2010, to protest against state media coverage ahead of the country's national elections. The protesters claim President Laurent Gbagbo has a "stranglehold" over state media and demanded opposition parties be given equal access to it.
