The January 2011 revolution in Tunisia brought an end to internet filtering and control of online content but old habits seem to be resurfacing and Reporters Without Borders urges the Tunisian courts not to take any decision that could lead to the restoration of filtering.

Morocco sees increase in mobile users

Mobile users in Morocco continued their upward push through 2011, with the number of users rising 14.29% to 36.55 million. According to the report from the country's national telecom regulator ANRT, the result is a 113.57% penetration rate.

Africa is world's second most connected region by mobile subscriptions

LONDON, UK: Africa has become the second most connected region in the world in terms of mobile subscription count, up from fourth place at the end of 2010, according to new research by Informa Telecoms & Media, and the number of mobile subscriptions in Africa is expected to reach one billion in 2016.

African mobile advertising market continues growth - InMobi

JOHANNESBURG: InMobi, the independent mobile ad network, has released its April 2011 Mobile Insights Report for Africa providing insights on mobile advertising trends on the continent. Data from the report shows that InMobi now serves 4.2 billion impressions a month in Africa, up 21% from 3.5 billion in January 2011.
