US doccie team partners with Mozambicans

US, ARKANSAS: Four college students are preparing to partner with Mozambicans to film a documentary on African development. The students' stated goal for the documentary, tentatively titled “The Kujilana Project,” is to teach villagers video-camera savvy and help them gather footage of local stories pre-dating Mozambique's Civil War and the Portuguese Colonial War.

IRIN releases new doccie on CAR humanitarian crisis

NAIROBI: The Central African Republic (CAR) has been in the throes of a humanitarian crisis for more than a decade. Army mutinies, coups and attempted coups, rebellions, gangs that kidnap for ransom and, more recently, elements of Uganda's notorious Lord's Resistance Army have made life for civilians, especially in the north, extremely challenging, unpredictable, and very dangerous.

Africa invited to participate in One Click One Pic Project

Project "One Click One Pic's" goal is to catch the earth as it is on Saturday, 24 October 2009, from vantage points worldwide. The project aims to commemorate the date when the first photo of the earth was taken in 1946. The project, organised by HEAPFO, has called on Africa to participate.

SA film wins recognition in Cannes

"Izulu Lami" (My Secret Sky), a feature film directed by South Africa's Madoda Ncayiyana, received the ‘Dikalo Best Feature Film' prize at the International Pan African Film Festival, held in Cannes in April 2009.

Tierney Fellowship 2009 call for applications

SAE calls for African Animation Scholarship applicants
