GTV Uganda licence withdrawn

After succumbing to the current global financial crisis GTV Uganda has now had its licence withdrawn by the country's Broadcasting Council. GTV Uganda can now no longer operate in the country.

Sports TV granted broadcasting licence

Uganda's Sports TV has officially been granted its broadcasting license meaning that the station is now operating under the law. Sports TV was given the licence on August 21, according to Jacque Kigozi the station's public relations manager.

Setanta Africa Sports Network launches Sports TV Uganda

Sports TV Uganda Limited is a privately owned television station, broadcasting sports programs from around the world, as a part of Setanta Africa Sports Network. The station is set to broadcast 24/7 and is free to air.

Africa's Olympic win

The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) has concluded an agreement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to acquire the free-to-air broadcast rights for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. The broadcast rights relate to 41 sub-Saharan territories excluding South Africa.
