Nigeria has beaten South Africa in the roll-out of the DVB-H mobile TV... Details Nigeria, MultiChoice Africa's local business partner in Nigeria, has launched Africa's first commercial mobile broadcast TV service in the city of Abuja.

An Internet exchange service for Arusha

The Tanzanian Internet Service Providers Association (TISPA) has launched the second Internet Exchange (IX) service in Arusha, Tanzania. The Tanzania Communicatoins Regulatory Authority (TCRA) made the IX possible by donating equipment and infrastructure to TISPA for its setup.

Tyco to run marine survey

Herakles Telecom has awarded the Sea Cable System (SEACOM) marine survey to Tyco Telecommunications, a business unit of Tyco Electronics. The 13,000km marine survey commences the development of the undersea fibre-optic network which will provide high capacity bandwidth connectivity between South Africa, Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, India and Europe.
