Unfair advertising practice by Tanzanian government

Outdoor advertising companies have been ordered to remove their billboards from all regions in the Tanzanian Roads (Tanroads) reserve after the agency, within the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, appointed two local outdoor companies with exclusive rights for outdoor development across these regions.

HKLM rebrands Mawalla Advocates

HKLM Cape Town have developed a new corporate identity for Tanzanian attorneys/advocates, Mawalla Advocates. The project included creating the brand strategy, new brand identity and visual language with applications to new stationery, a corporate brochure and signage with future roll-outs including a new website and environmental branding principles.

Alcohol producer and distributor Distell is spearheading a viticultural initiative in Tanzania expected to enable wine farmers in the Dodoma highlands to double their crops within three to five years — and may yet be developing a feasible model for rolling out vineyard productions across sub-Saharan Africa.

E-learning concept proudly Kenyan - Minister

Nairobi: Kenya's Minister of Education said this week that the country's e-learning concept will be “Proudly Kenyan.” Professor Sam Ongeri told media that they had rejcted foreign concepts in favour of locally-devised ones to digitalise the country's education system.

Tanzanian newspapers accused of defamatory reports

On 13 February 2009, the Tanzanian minister of information, sports and culture ordered three newspapers to provide reasons why they published what he calls "defamatory" news reports. The newspapers in question are Taifa Letu, "Sema Usikize and Taifa Tanzania.

Young African Leaders recognised in Tanzania

The president of Zanzibar, Abeid Amani Karume has launched an initiative to recognise the achievements of young African leaders known as the Young African Leaders Awards. President Karume launched the African awards on behalf of chairman of the African Union, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania.
