AMPC produces Bankserv's vision in film

African Motion Picture Company (AMPC) was selected to produce a film-based presentation in order to convey an important vision for Bankserv, an electronic switching company for the financial industry. The company required more than a standard PowerPoint presentation, however.

Soul Train wins Gold Panda in Chinese TV festival

Soul Train, the South African documentary by Bruno Mokoena, won a Gold Panda for Best Documentary, Cinematography at the 10th Sichuan TV festival, which took place in Chengdu, China from 6-8 November 2009.

National film school for SA?

The recently completed National Film School (NFS) study into the feasibility of a national film school will be one of the discussion topics at the Film Indaba 2009 that will be held on 26-27 November 2009 at Glenburn Lodge, Muldersdrift. The indaba will be hosted by the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF).

NYF appoints new head, expands competition

Anderson will manage all facets of the awards, oversee the strategy to expand the competition's footprint, and assemble an advisory board culled from the most respected and influential minds representing the television and film community.

SA short wins AiM film competition

A silent experimental documentary from South Africa won the second annual Africa in Motion (AiM) short film competition. Paul Emmanuel's 3SAI: A Rite of Passage was screened as part of the Africa in Motion Film Festival, held 22 October - 1 November 2009, at the UK African Film Festival, which takes place at the Filmhouse in Edinburgh, Scotland.

CIT:Y winner dances into future

The CIT:Y Festival 2009 announced the winners of the various bursaries at its awards ceremony at Museum Africa on Wednesday, 21 October 2009 - giving a number of Johannesburg's fledgling artists and performers a significant financial boost in their respective study paths.
