The SABS Design Excellence Awards exhibition started with a gala evening where the 2009 product design winners were announced; this year's winning innovation is the "Snuza" baby monitor designed and manufactured by Biosentronics, XYZ, Savant and ID&B.

Whisky Live Festival features Sensory Zone

The FNB Whisky Live Festival, now in its seventh year, will take place in Cape Town at the CTICC (4-6 November 2009) and Johannesburg at the Sandton Convention Centre (11-14 November). An addition to this year's event is the Sensory Zone with gallery-designed pods offering music, aromas and colours.

Good Food & Wine Show opens today

The Good Food & Wine Show Johannesburg opens today, Thursday, 29 October 2009 at the Coca-Cola Dome in North Riding and runs until Sunday, 1 November. Swiss International Air Lines has flown six BBC celebrity chefs into South Africa, who are accommodated by Southern Sun Palazzo, Montecasino.

Joburg SABC Education Baba Indaba breaks all previous records

Offerings ranging from handmade jewellery for mums and kids, stylish maternity wear, belly wraps for post pregnancy bellies and cars for kids to handcrafted toys and educational entertainment for the whole family were on show at the SABC Education Baba Indaba this past weekend. 29 878 visitors, including 25 members of the media flocked to the Sandton Convention Centre over the course of the weekend to take advantage of the show specials, competitions, entertainment and educational workshops that were available. These attendance numbers show a 32% increase in visitors on last year, with a clear indication that expecting parents will continue to buy the best for their babies despite harsher economic times.

Durban HOMEMAKERS Expo attracts more than 16 000 visitors!

The 7th annual Durban HOMEMAKERS Expo, held from 8 to 11 October 2009 at the Durban Exhibition Centre, saw 16 051 visitors experiencing 240 stands on over 9 000m². As the largest home improvement show of this scale in the Durban area, visitors were delighted by the variety of market leading interior and exterior home improvement companies, all under one roof. This gave them the opportunity to discuss their home related needs with experts and compare various offerings.

Preemies Day is being celebrated on 22nd October 2009 countrywide and Preemies for Africa, The Voice of Premature Babies in Africa, would like to educate South Africans to the plight of premature babies and their parents who often find themselves without the support, guidance and advice which is so necessary during the first few weeks, months and years of a premature baby's life.

Look & Feel Good show debuts impressively

The Look & Feel Good Expo, which made its debut last weekend (9-11 October) at the Coca-Cola dome in Johannesburg, showed an impressive turnout of over 16 000 visitors. The event, which comprised a collective of exhibitors in the health and wellness sector, was created by expo company Biz Events, whose National Boat Show has become an annual institution.
