Presses silent at SA's oldest independent newspaper

South Africa's oldest independent newspaper has closed its print shop after 140 years in Grahamstown. Yesterday, 30 June 2009, was the end of an era at Grocott's Mail when former owner Jeff Grocott retired after 49 years, and eight print shop staff were retrenched.

Elan Lohmann heads to Avusa

Elan Lohmann will be joining Avusa Media Online as GM on 1 August 2009 after four-and-half years at Naspers. Johannesburg-born Lohmann (32) told Bizcommunity.com in an exclusive interview that he is joining Avusa in a quest for a new challenge and a change of scenery.

NEWSWATCH: Michael Jackson died yesterday, Thursday, 25 June 2009 at his home in Los Angeles, apparently of a heart attack - but city medical authorities have scheduled an autopsy for today and say the cause of death may only be confirmed in weeks, reports IOL Tonight. The mass media and social media, from newspaper frontpages (both print and digital), TV, radio to Twitter, Facebook and blogs, are full of tribute, speculation, hype and comment concerning the king of pop today, Friday 26 June.

Apology snags Bullard dismissal case
