Orange and Nashua Mobile team up

In January 2013, Orange launched an e-commerce store and online portal for the South African market. Following on from this, Orange and Nashua Mobile have agreed to partner in a venture that will see Orange expanding its South African activity by opening several local retail outlets.

E-Tourism Africa Summit to promote online tourism in Africa

12 June 2013 saw the launch of the sixth Annual E-Tourism Africa Summit, which will take place on 9-10 September at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The summit, which is sponsored by South African Tourism, is an international gathering of experts on online tourism, such as Facebook, Trip Advisor, Expedia, Twitter, and will feature innovative speakers and solutions.

Tourism growth outlook looks strong

Auditing firm PwC on Thursday (13 June) projected total room revenue in SA would grow at a compound annual rate of 9.2% between now and 2017 after overall spending on rooms in all categories rose by 13.4% in 2012 to R15.2bn‚ reflecting an increase in stay-unit nights and a 5.3% rise in the average room rate.

SA customers rate local commercial airlines

The South African Customer Satisfaction Index (SAcsi) is a national economic indicator of customer satisfaction with the quality of products and services available to household consumers in South Africa. The latest results were released on 11 June 2013, revealing that SA domestic travellers rate their satisfaction with the SA commercial airline industry as a score of 68 out of 100. Of the ten industries measured by SAcsi so far this year, this was the lowest score.
