Seda Small Business Stars business plan competition extends deadline

The deadline for entries to the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) Small Business Stars business plan competition has been extended from 31 January to 29 February 2012. "Although interest has been beyond expectations, with several thousands of entrants registering, many have indicated they require more time for thorough market research and to work on their financial projections," explains Koenie Slabbert, COO of Seda.

Independent retailers offered free SACS membership

'Per capita spending bolsters trading performance'

Industry bodies are withdrawing levies and the CPA is putting added pressure on the industry... and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), the regulatory body that protects consumers from unethical and misleading marketing and referees disputes between advertisers, is facing a funding crisis that could cripple its activities. Acts that are relevant to the ASA include, but are not restricted to: health, gambling, communciations, liquor, roads, and even lotteries.

The Spectrum Awards for 2011 from the South African Council of Shopping Centres, were awarded last week in Gauteng at a gala occasion to mark those centres that show excellence, innovation and service across four categories. Leaders in this were Mall of the North in Polokwane, Canal Walk Shopping Centre in Cape Town, Cape Union Mart Adventure Centre at Canal Walk and Supercare Cleaning Services at Paarl Mall.
