Retail owners do not have a choice whether they want to renovate or not. Existing shops have an average life span of approximately 4-5 years before they have to renovate, either by the rules of centre management, or to maintain public interest. However this or opening a new retail outlet, can be quite a daunting task, particularly in tough economic times, as many store owners will attest.

Morningside Shopping Centre wins property award

At the SAPOA convention held in Sun City in mid-May 2010, the award for 'Retail' development category at its Innovative Excellence in Property Development went to Morningside Shopping Centre. It met the judges' criteria of a holistic approach in that the centre is economically viable, satisfies the needs of both the investor and user, is aesthetically appealing and enhances the locality in which it is situated.

News Café refurbished for Sandton rush

The re-launch celebration of the News Cafe Sandton store took place late last week as a Night at the Oscars, hosted for South African celebrities. The 10-week refurbishment sees 100 outdoor and 150 indoor seats and a separate smoking lounge of an additional 25 seats.
