IMPERIAL Logistics provides its clients with 137.5% B-BBEE preferential procurement recognition, the highest of all major Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) in southern Africa. This level of recognition is higher than that normally offered by a Level 1 Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) rated company.

Warning to motorists ahead of SONA

Several streets will be closed to traffic in the Cape Town city centre ahead of the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, authorities have warned. President Jacob Zuma will deliver the annual speech during a joint seating of the National Assembly to be broadcast at 7pm. There will also be parking restrictions around the Parliamentary precinct on Plein Street.

Airbus wings crack but 'are safe to fly'

Airbus has admitted that there are manufacturing and design flaws in the wings of the A380 super-sized passenger jets but insists that the planes are safe to fly. Cracks were found in a small number of parts used in the wings and reported to Airbus by different airline operators, according to a Business Report report.

Tyre recycling levy dumped

Engineering News reports that plans to recycle tyres and charge importers and manufacturers a levy of R2,30 per kilogram has been withdrawn. In terms of the Recycling and Economic Development Initiative of South Africa, the R2,30/kg levy would have been used to pay for the collection and recycling of tyres from illegal dumps.
