In Africa this Singapore-based company, in which media giant Naspers owns a stake, does substantial business in South Africa (where it also has a sales office), Kenya, Nigeria and Ghana. It also sees significant growth in mobile traffic in African markets north of the Sahara.

Free trade talks to push Africa into future

In an important process which started three years ago, the first round of negotiations to establish a free trade area (FTA) covering 27 countries in Southern and East Africa will kick off on Thursday, 8 December 2011, in Nairobi. This promises to be an important instrument for the future of trade and industrialisation in Africa.

Mobile hotspots in Africa - Q3 2011

In Q3 of 2011 a total of 3.2 billion ads were served across continental Africa. This continues a year of growth across Continental Africa characterised by 135% more traffic compared to 2010. Seven countries drew traffic in excess of 100 million ads served per quarter and three countries (South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya) saw more than half a billion ads served in Q3 2011.

Africa is world's second most connected region by mobile subscriptions

LONDON, UK: Africa has become the second most connected region in the world in terms of mobile subscription count, up from fourth place at the end of 2010, according to new research by Informa Telecoms & Media, and the number of mobile subscriptions in Africa is expected to reach one billion in 2016.

African mobile advertising market continues growth - InMobi

JOHANNESBURG: InMobi, the independent mobile ad network, has released its April 2011 Mobile Insights Report for Africa providing insights on mobile advertising trends on the continent. Data from the report shows that InMobi now serves 4.2 billion impressions a month in Africa, up 21% from 3.5 billion in January 2011.
