The School of Media & Communication Alumni Association (SMCAA) of the Pan-African University in Lagos, Nigeria has elected Funke Treasure Durodola as the new president, Bayero Agabi as vice president, Dan Oshodin as secretary and Adetoye Oremosu as public relations officer.

Loerie Awards adds PR category for 2011

The Loerie Awards has introduced a PR category to this year's awards. Public Relations Industry of Southern Africa (PRISA) spokesperson Bridget von Holdt believes the move is indicative of the importance of strategic communication in the overall communication mix and that the inclusion of PR exposes other industries to the real value of strategic communication and its vital role in brand management.

PR Worx wins IABC African Gold Quill

In the media relations category of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) African Gold Quill Awards, PR Worx won for its Anglo American's CSI publicity activities. It received the highest publicity category score in Africa, after the first tier of judging, so the entry will be submitted to the second round of international adjudication in the US.
