Libel claim against The Namibian withdrawn

A Windhoek business owner who was suing The Namibian for N$500 000 for alleged defamation, on 4 March 2013, decided to withdraw his claim against the newspaper.

Access to quality information needed

Media freedom is undermined by a lack of information infrastructure as well as skills and literacy to access and critically evaluate information. The ability to access vital information, especially government information, makes it difficult for media practitioners and the general public to accurately report on issues that concern them.

'Women in News' programme open for applications

The Women in News (WIN) programme, a leadership programme for African women working in media and launched by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) in 2010, is now accepting applications from women media professionals from either the business or editorial side of newspapers in Botswana, Namibia and Zambia.
