Bidvest Namibia share-offer oversubscribed

Bidvest Namibia, the commercial services and fishing business, announced late last week that its public offer of 50 719 000 ordinary shares had been oversubscribed. Applications for 54 809 716 shares came in from 676 applicants.

Deadline looms for Bidvest Namibia share offer

The offer to the Namibian public of 50,7 million shares closes today, Thursday 15 October 2009 at 12pm ahead of the scheduled listing of Bidvest Namibia on the Namibian Stock Exchange on 26 October. The listing is expected to raise N$313.6 million, earmarked for further investment and expansion of local opportunities.

Interest builds ahead of Bidvest Namibia's listing

Interest is building up in the planned stock exchange listing of Bidvest Namibia ahead of distribution to prospective investors of the listings prospectus. Sebby Kankondi, Windhoek-based CEO of Bidvest Namibia, reports that interest has been huge and staff have fielded constant enquiries since listing preparations were advertised in local media.

Namibia: Ruling party newspaper sued for defamation

WINDHOEK: The executive director of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR), Phil ya Nangoloh, threatened to sue the ruling South West Africa People's Organisation's (SWAPO) mouthpiece, Namibia Today, for N$250,000 (US$31,250) in defamation after the paper called him a “pathological liar”.

Namibian singing sensation Stella Kavendjii breezes in unannounced, baby in her arms, and does an impromptu interview on her new album about HIV and AIDS. Such is the homely atmosphere at this woman-led community radio station that if anyone has an issue, they come in and chat about it.
