MISA trains journos on child reporting

The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) has trained Malawi journalists on child reporting. An initiative MISA programme specialist for Media Freedom Monitoring and Research, Levi Kabwato describes as an on-going effort towards empowering journalists to report informatively and positively on children and child rights.

Malawi to host 7th AIMS Summit

Malawi will host the seventh annual African International Media Summit (AIMS) from 17-18 November 2012 at the Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe, Malawi. This year's theme "I am African" is in tune with the African Union's (AU) new campaign launch encouraging participation in the global initiative.

Repressive media law gnaws at Malawi

Barely a week after finance Minister Ken Kandodo announced that Malawi's major donors are withholding more than US$400 million in aid in protest over government's repressive media laws and bad governance, a grouping of donors under the Common Approach to Budgetary Support (CABS) have also sent a warning shot over the same issue.

Judging panel announced for 2011 Diageo Awards

LONDON: The panel of judges has been announced for the eighth Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards set to take place on 30 June 2011. The annual awards aims to encourage more prolific reporting of economic opportunities in Africa and to celebrate excellence in business journalism.
