Pan-African published fiction prize up for grabs...The Etisalat Prize for Literature 2015 has put out its call for entries. This is the first ever Pan-African prize celebrating debut African writers of published fiction. Also making headlines, a new app will allow Kenyan SMEs to buy government bonds with just Ksh3,000. Known as M-Akiba, it's part of the treasury mobile direct (TMD) programme, and lets Kenyans purchase government securities directly from the comfort of their mobile phones. Hindering the move towards media freedom, a Zambian editor and journalist were detained on Thursday and released on bail on Friday, four months after publishing a letter that Zambia's anti-corruption commission allegedly sent to President Edgar Lungu. They're set to stand trial in August and could face a maximum sentence of 25 years in jail. Lastly, make sure you don't miss out on the first of three webinars presented by Meltwater Africa in association with Gumtree and Bizcommunity, on how to successfully influence brand reputation in today's hyper connected world, with Claire Cobbledick: Head of Marketing Gumtree South Africa, set to lead the one-hour conversation on Tuesday, 4 August at noon.
