Key insights driving change

The Broll Shopper Segmentation Report 2016 Volume 1 was released at the 2016 South African Council of Shopping Centres Research Conference held in Johannesburg on Wednesday. Of those surveyed, 83% of South African respondents said trading hours are inadequate, suggesting that ideal trading hours would be from 7am to 8pm. The PwC Total Retail 2016 report, on the other hand, highlights eight key insights that will drive changes in online and in-store retail ahead of the retail revolution. The survey represents approximately 23,000 online shoppers in 25 countries, including around 1,000 South Africans.

#CommerceMonth is well under way. This week, PayU's newly appointed CEO Mario Shilashki shares the company's growth strategy and how he plans to create something that is distinctive to each market, and then grow that internationally. Cari Van Wyk asked Paul Midy, CEO of Jovago, to share his views on e-commerce, how it changed the tourism industry and what it means for the online booking company. While Sindy Peters interviews Neil Robinson, CEO of Relate Bracelets, to find out how the social enterprise's model works and contributes to skills development in SA. For more, go to the #CommerceMonth special section.
