You've seen the BIG 5, now see the BIG brass

[Terry Levin] Organising an event on a Monday is a bit of a double-edged sword; on the one hand it's not anyone's immediate choice for a big night out, on the other you are unlikely to have the excuse of much else to do.

Overview of #daythree of DIXIV: a better life for all
[Terry Levin] Thanks to the irrefutable evidence of the 45 speakers who presented at this year’s Cape Town International Design Indaba Conference (23-25 February 2011), the question of whether design improves lives, is no longer debatable. It therefore follows that in South Africa, where the objective of "A better life for all” has been at the centre of our agenda for a decade or more, design thinking should be employed in any and all economic revival strategies. Overview of #daytwo of DIXIV: a ‘chair’ kind of day
[Terry Levin] If you’ve ever attended Design Indaba before, you’ll know what I mean when I say that yesterday, Thursday, 24 February 2011, was a ‘chair’ kind of day. You can learn the history of the world from its chairs, but there was also a whole lot more going down, at this, the second leg of the XIVth annual Design Indaba. [view twitterfall]

Overview of #dayone of DIXIV (Design Indaba XIV)
[Terry Levin] The last week of February has become synonymous on the global calendar as being the time when the world’s design evangelists foregather at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), for the conference known internationally as Design Indaba. Lessons, many, various and thematic were presented yesterday, Wednesday, 23 February 2011, by both the established legends of the design world and those in the making. [view twitterfall]

Living la vida locavore #DesignIndaba

[Terry Levin] At a sumptuous "locavore" event held at Cape Town's V&A Waterfront last night, Wednesday, 23 February 2011, Charmaine Huet, Woolworths divisional marketing director, had the honour of paying tribute to design legend and revered Design Indaba alumnus Massimo Vignelli on the occasion of his 80th birthday. [Terry Levin] Thanks to the Habari Media Facebook Connects event held in Cape Town [on U2 Friday, 18 February 2011], those who attended should now theoretically know everything there is to know about writing a Facebook strategy!

[2011 trends] The shift hits the fan

[Terry Levin] You don't have to be clairvoyant to figure that this is the time of year for scenario planning - but this, the year that kicked off so neatly with its demonstration of pure binary code 1111, that has had mathematicians all atwitter about its status not only as the first prime year since 2003, but also the year that is the sum of no less than 11 consecutive prime numbers, will be more than different. So what does 'primeness' mean now?
