Crowdsourcing political ideology

[Philani Mdingi] Crowdsourcing is not a new concept in digital marketing circles, it is however getting a new lease on life in the world of politics, especially in Africa.

The significance of mobile strategies

[Philani Mdingi] A few months ago I was in Cape Town attending an email marketing campaign on behalf of Everlytic. Following the event I sought to enjoy the city's night life. Sadly my bar hopping adventure was cut short when my brother and I were skilfully relieved of our cell phones.

Philani Mdingi commented on About bells, whistles, suits and ties
This is a very insightful article, it struck the cord particularly because this is something that I have been thinking about for a very, very long time. I was a bells and whistles man for a long time especially during and just after my varsity days, but then I opted out for the same reasons listed on this article.

Philani Mdingi commented on Online communications media - getting involved
Email newsletters have proven to be very effective in maintaining relationships with clients. When a company's email newsletter contains useful information, readers actually look forward to receiving it in their inbox and can result in long relationships and repeat purchases. For example, as an online marketer I always look forward to receiving the Quirk emarketing fortnightly newsletter because I find it to be very informative

Social media tools can be used in conjunction with email marketing to increase a brand's online presence. Add your Face book, twitter, Linked In, Stumble Upon and delicious icons on your email footer to boost your brand's online presence. If you are not in at least two of these online platforms then it's time to think again.

Philani Mdingi commented on The changing media landscape
This is an interesting subject matter that I feel should be further investigated and discussed, especially from a South African context. I am not seeing enough journalists in the social media space, especially on twitter.

As Alvin Toffler so aptly put it "The illiterate of the future will not be the person who cannot read. It will be the person who does not know how to learn."

Philani Mdingi commented on Corporate conversation using social and online media
I couldn't agree more with what has been pointed out in this article. A lot of companies that are slow to jump onto the social media bandwagon will miss out on the opportunity to build lasting relationships with their customers.
