Description

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process by which you try to get the highest possible ranking in the search engine results for your website. SEO involves understanding how search engines work, and what tactics you can use to optimise your site so that it ranks highly when someone conducts a particular search. Learning how to do this is key to the success of your site and achieving a high ranking on search engines. The cost of the course is R6200 including Value Added Tax. The course will start on the 23rd of July 2012 however, registrations will close on the 16th July 2012 (We will accept late registrations in special circumstances.)

The course is open to anyone with an interest in learning more about how search engines work. It is particularly suited to small, medium or large business owners and entrepreneurs, or professionals in a traditional marketing or communications capacity. It is particularly suited to anyone managing a website, or the content of a website.

Interaction will take place via the Quirk Education learning centre - an online platform designed to facilitate easy interaction between the students themselves, as well as the students and course convenors. The course material will also be presented online in various formats: Course notes, Video lectures, Discussion forum, Weekly assignments and Recommended reading. Academic support will be provided to the students via the discussion forum, and the course convenors can be contacted via email or telephone.

Students' knowledge will be tested each week with an assignment which will focus on the topic for that week. At the beginning of the course the students will be given a research project to complete by the end of the course. Students will also be required to sit a final exam which will be completed online.
