Stephens is Sun International's new boss

Sun International on Friday (23 November) announced the appointment of Graeme Edward Stephens as the chief executive of the group with effect from February next year.

Stephens (49) (BCom‚ HDip Acc‚ CA (SA)) joined Sun International in 2011 as the group's new business development director. Prior to joining the group he spent 7 years with Kerzner International as the senior vice president of project development and was instrumental in securing new hotel and casino opportunities for Kerzner International.

He has 13 years' experience in investment banking with a focus on the tourism and leisure industry and was intimately involved with Sun International throughout this period. Graeme's international experience extends to Africa‚ Middle East‚ Indian Ocean‚ Asia and Latin America.

The hotel and gaming chain also announced the appointment of Peter Bacon as an independent non-executive director with effect from February. Bacon has over 35 years' experience in the hospitality‚ resorts and gaming industry. He previously served as an executive director on the Sun International board from 1994 and as the group's chief executive from 2003 until his retirement in 2006.
