Protea Hotel Kruger Gate begins final refurbishment phase

January 2013: Protea Hotel Kruger Gate, located just 100m from the Paul Kruger entrance to the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga, will be completing the final phase of its renovations between 3 February 2013 and 15 May 2013.

Rooms are spread out across the spacious hotel ground and therefore there will be no disruption to our in-house GUESTS during the renovation process.

The final 58 rooms will receive an elegant makeover, with a major focus on GUEST comfort. The beds are being replaced with luxurious extra-length bed sets and all the room furnishings are being refurbished or replaced.

The rooms will also boast comfortable multipurpose L-shaped daybeds that can double as children's beds, and new insect-resistant window screens.

When the refurbishment is complete the hotel will have 57 rooms with king or twin beds, 8 inter-leading rooms and 33 family rooms with 2 double beds, to cater to the ever-growing South African family leisure market visiting the Kruger National Park.

The refurbishment so far has encompassed several rooms, elevated walkways, conference facilities and perhaps most importantly, energy-saving water and electricity devices to reduce the property's carbon footprint.

The hotel's restaurant has had its own facelift in the refurbishment process, as has the lapa outdoor dining area.

The hotel, on the banks of the Sabie River, offers a luxurious bush getaway to both international and domestic travellers, as well as a unique conference destination for up to 220 people.

Protea Hospitality Group Director of Sales Marketing and Revenue, Danny Bryer, says the new facilities and the room revamps are extremely impressive and in keeping with the Protea Hospitality Group's high service and brand standards.

Work will be completed in May this year.
