Wilderness Group helps changing lives with soap

The Wilderness Group in Namibia recently undertook an exciting new project whereby they tested a batch of new olive oil soap from a community project in Katutura, run by six HIV-positive women.

The project trains stigmatised women on everyday skills and generates income based on handcraft, recycling and volunteering. All profits are returned directly to the community to improve health and education of HIV-positive women and their children. The products are made from 100% pure olive oil without any preservatives or fragrances, and are skin and environment friendly.

So far, feedback from the Wilderness Adventures camps has been overwhelmingly positive and as a result Wilderness ordered a batch from the ladies, and changed the printing on the labels to say 'Handmade for Wilderness Safaris'. Not only will this save money, but it will also be fantastic in helping change the lives of local communities.
