BalconyTV back in Johannesburg

BalconyTV will be filming the best in South African music and delivering it to the world via YouTube from Randlords, a rooftop venue in Braamfontein. The relaunch of BalconyTV Johannesburg sees it join one of 40 cities of BalconyTV.com, a world-wide YouTube online music show that features bands and musicians from around the world performing on scenic balconies.

BalconyTV Johannesburg producer Julian von Plato of SSTREAMM, who launched the concept in South Africa 12 months ago, says, "Randlords was chosen to showcase Johannesburg scenic skyline as well as the country's music talent because of its 360 degree views."

He said the channel has steadily built up a unique catalogue of South Africa's talent with over 70 performances including Shadow Club, The Fridge, Lonehill Estate, Josie Field and many more. MusicMate, which provide full backline and PA, sponsors all the artists that appear on the show.

The channel, which began six years ago, is already in over 40 cities around the world including from Los Angeles, London and Sydney. Over 50 million views on YouTube with performances by A-list artists such as The Script and Jessie J having performed.

Each city showcases a unique element of its landscape as new and exciting musical talent perform on a balcony to the world to more than 100,000 views.

Elle Franco and Julian von Plato host BalconyTV Johannesburg. Already lined up for 2103 are artists such as Newton's 2nd Law, McCree, Uju and many more.
