Airports Company South Africa supporting disabled South Africa

Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, the Deputy Minister of the Department of Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities presented the 'National Disability Champion Award' to Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) at a gala function in Mpumalanga in recognition of its commitment to the disability sector.

Since 2003, ACSA has donated more than 9,000 wheelchairs and, for the past eight years, has been the major sponsor of Wheelchair Tennis South Africa. The ACSA Eastern Cape Open has just finished this past weekend.

"We are honoured to have been recognised for our efforts through this award," says ACSA group communications manager, Solomon Makgale. "Our CSI programmes are mainly focused on community development, disability and environmental initiatives. Through this award, we hope to encourage other corporates to follow our example which will further raise awareness of issues affecting people with disabilities."
