Three Cities Peninsula staff walked for CANSA

Staff of The Three Cities Peninsula All-Suite Hotel joined the 33 500 walkers for the Discovery Cape Times Big Walk 2012 in Cape Town on Sunday, 11 November, 2012, in support of the CANSA Association.

A group of Peninsula employees started the Peninsula Walking Group, The Peninsula Strollers, in 2011 with the aim of participating in every long-distance charity walk in the city. These dedicated hoteliers have been training together with the help of the Peninsula's personal trainer, Moira Mahon, who motivates and trains the team in their efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

"We really enjoy our walks every Tuesday with Moira, it's great to be part of a team and ensuring we stay healthy while doing something good for charity," said Three Cities Peninsula employee, Rene Prins. "We are hoping to recruit more walkers into the group to support good causes such as CANSA and the Steenberg Foundation."

One of many walkathons

The Big Walk is just one of the many walkathons that the Peninsula staff have taken part in. Last week the Peninsula's staff completed the 10km Avon Justine iThemba Cape Town Walkathon in support of the movement against breast cancer.

"We are very proud of the staff who participate in the various charity walkathons, which fits in with the hotel's approach of always giving back to the community," said Chris Godenir, GM of the Three Cities Peninsula.
