Dan Moyane resigns from MDDA

Citing his high workload, Dan Moyane has submitted his resignation, effective 14 April 2011, from the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) board. His resignation has been accepted by President Zuma, who originally appointed Moyane as the commercial broadcast media appointee, due to serve a three-year term of office, which would only expire in December 2011.

Speaking on behalf of the agency, its chief executive Lumko Mtimde joined the President and thanked Moyane for his work, leadership and guidance in the governance of the agency as it successfully implemented its mandate enshrined in the MDDA Act. Mtimde said he has notified the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) of the developments and the NAB will accordingly recommend a person to the President, who will appoint someone to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term of office.

The President, through a letter sent by the Minister in the Presidency Collins Chabane, thanked Moyane for his dedication and contribution in promoting an enabling environment for media development and diversity in South Africa. Minister Chabane further wished him success in his future endeavours.
