Inflate on track with Transnet's world-beating hospital train

It's called Phelophela - and it's won awards across the globe for its innovative approach to taking state-of-the-art health-care to the most remote and under-resourced areas of South Africa. And when Transnet tasked Jo'burg-based Nine Squared Communications with their launch of this extraordinary hospital train, they in turn challenged Inflate to provide an equally extraordinary venue.
And challenge it was! We had to create a cutting-edge presentation venue right next to the train itself... Furthermore, because Phelophela is all about taking first-world technology into the most underdeveloped areas, a quick-fix convenient urban railway station (with all the necessary hospitality features) just wouldn't do.

Instead, a simple rural station south of East London was chosen... and then transformed into a world-class event space. The barren, stony railway yard was graded and gravelled before Inflate's crew moved in with three different structures:
  • the Trident - an 8m high, 24m diameter dome that rose from the dust in less than four hours to create the central hi-tech presentation auditorium

  • the CUBE - a 12m x 12m, 5m high communications hub, doubling as both office and kitchen and set up by just four crew in less than an hour

  • the AIROOF - an 'instant' entrance/reception lobby placed onto the front of the Dome entrance for maximum effect
MK Productions' best-of-breed technical team transformed the interior of the Trident Dome into an audio-visual extravaganza - with surround-sound audio, multi-screen projections as well as imagery playing all over the cathedral-like interior of the Dome!
