Pieter asks "How far is the future from us?" by looking at certain international trends that will soon hit SA; trends such as the leveraging of QR codes to alter consumer behavior, the use of smartphones to facilitate In-Mall navigation and so much more. The presentation not only highlights shopping innovations that are emerging around the globe, but also provides ideas on how these trends, ideas and technologies can be positioned to benefit the current shopping model in South African Shopping Centres. Pieter Geldenhuys is widely regarded as one of the leading strategists, futurists and thinkers in the Innovation and Technology Strategy arena in South Africa. He holds an MBA from the Potchefstroom Business School and has taught Strategic Technology and Innovation Management at MBA level for more than 15 years. He spends four days of the week as head of Vodacom Innovations, a division of Vodacom Ventures, and also holds a Directorship at the Institute for Technology Strategy and Innovation.
