New 'scroller' technology for iafrica.comLeading South African portal, iafrica.com - which is published by Cape Town-based Primedia Online, has introduced a brand-new 'scroller' on its website; a boost for the popular iafrica.com communities, but also an attractive option for any would-be advertisers. All twelve communities on iafrica will now have extra home page space - spread across the entire website - in a smooth and easy to use 'scroller'; promoting the latest news, views and pictures. (In simple terms, a 'scroller' can best be described as a unique way of showing the reader prime content from across the site at a glance.) Aside from the changes to this new all-purpose iafrica.com 'scroller', a few extra home-page tweaks have also been thrown into the equation. A 'latest headlines' news ticker has been added to the top of the home page, whilst there are also two new buttons on the tool bar; one for adding iafrica.com to your favourites - simply at the click of your mouse - or one for making iafrica your home page. Primedia Online CEO Nikki Cockcroft explained her thinking behind the 'scroller' redesign: "After last year's redesign on the iafrica website, we still felt there was something missing - this new scroller, however, adds that 'something'. "Not only does it suddenly give all the communities an extra bit of exposure, but it's also a non-intrusive way to give our advertisers some extra space - on the home page, but also on the various community home pages, too. "It has suddenly created a more attractive and non-intrusive spot for any would-be advertisers, but also for the community editors, who previously, have had to jostle for place on the home page."
