Glasshouse goes mobile
For years, the industry has been calling for changes to the post production sector, to no avail. Glasshouse grew tired of the status quo and decided to take the ball into our own hands, stay ahead of the game and take the radical steps that saw us move out of our large offices and into a “virtual environment”.
Our editors have become totally mobile and are able to edit wherever the client needs : on set, at their offices, or in our permanent edit suite at Bladeworks in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
This suite is equipped with an Avid express, (soon to be updated to an Avid Media Composer) Dvcam, Hdvcam, BSP decks and the catering services and full facility support that our commercial clients have become accustomed to.
In addition, Glasshouse has two avids that are run from laptops and supported by large portable drives. This has given us the flexibility to edit anywhere at any time.
We were of course also hugely fortunate to have a dedicated team of individuals who had enough foresight to see this move as an exciting challenge both for the company and for them as individuals and one that the industry has been calling for, for far too long now!”
And as a result we haven't stopped. In simplifying the way we work, we have in fact doubled our client base many of whom just can't get enough of this new formula. They really seem to enjoy our ability to edit on set affording them all a clearer idea as to what the end product will ultimately look like.
As an added bonus, we have found that editing on our client's premises helps to save time and money if the job so requires. Clients love that they can book an experienced and creative editor, producer and edit suite at a moments notice, on set or in their offices at a fraction of their previous budgets.
In this technically advanced day and age, production and editing can be done from almost anywhere, whether it be from home, an office or a film set. Couple this together with a desire to improve the service to clients as well as make their lives and ours vastly easier and you have a winning combination!
