“Exciting and exuberant” were the words used to describe the recent Siemens “Team Energy - Soccer 2010” event held at the Theatre on the Track by the Siemens Energy division. This was the atmosphere Collyer Lessick and Associates (CLA) created by bringing together people from all the different cultures within South Africa.
The entire Energy division of 500 people consists of 60% staff from high density areas and 40% from the more affluent suburbs, and the CEO for Siemens Energy, wanted to encourage interaction of diversity at all levels within his team.

Each staff member was given a Siemens branded soccer shirt with the word “Energy” on the back while the “fans” (Siemens Energy staff) were invited to the venue and enjoy a match day experience.

Turnstile units like those used at live soccer matches were set up at the entrances and the entire venue resembled a soccer stadium, with large backdrops depicting soccer matches adorning the room. The focal point was the stage area, decked in green astro-turf with a goal post as the backdrop to the stage. Large wooden benches with bum seats were provided with cocktail tables dotted around the room with soccer-themed centre pieces.

Collyer Lessick organised this thoroughly professional event which demonstrated Siemens Energy's appreciation for its team. The CEO for Energy, Dion Govender, handed out team spirit awards to thank staff members who deserved recognition for their hard work throughout the year, after which an excellent lunch was served.

MC for the day, Joey Rusdien, was able to engage the crowd by aligning his speech to the current challenges and solutions the country is facing with the preparations for 2010, while former Bafana Bafana goal-keeper Andre Arendse kept the guests enthralled with some awesome displays of spectacular goalkeeping! For the few that did not participate in the soccer related activities, a wide range of Nintendo games kept them entertained.

The day ended on a lively note with DJ Ian playing music while the guests wound down with sundowners and cocktails.

“Thanks very much for an excellent event yesterday. I received a very complimentary email from Dion praising me for the most successful event he has attended, and arranging such a well-organised event. Since last night he has been receiving comments, phone calls and emails from employees who were extremely enthusiastic and grateful for the day's events. The objective was to engender a team spirit and the concept of the event met that exact requirement and was implemented professionally and creatively.

I got the praise from Dion, but at the end of the day CLA put it all together for Siemens. Thank you very much for the great work and helping me to look good at the same time.”
