MDDA welcomes new CFO, Mr Godfrey Gungqisa!

The Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) welcomes the new Chief Financial Officer, Mr Mshiyeni Godfrey Gungqisa, who joined the Agency on the 1st of December 2008. Mr Gungqisa left SEDA (Small Enterprise Development Agency) at the end of November and joins the MDDA to fill in the shoes of Mr Mbuyiseni Jafta who left the Agency in September to pursue other avenues.

Mr Gungqisa joins the executive management of the MDDA, which is led by Mr Lumko Mtimde, the Chief Executive Officer and also consist of Ms Jayshree Pather as the Projects Director. He brings with him 18 years worth of working experience in the financial division of both the commercial as well as the public sectors. At MDDA, Mr Gungqisa is going to be responsible for the financial management and oversight of the financial functions of the Agency, ensuring that it continues to comply with the Public Finance Management Act and financially account to the Minister in the Presidency, Parliament and the other funding partners (broadcast and print media). The Agency has continuously had a clean financial management record, with unqualified audit reports since its birth.

Mr Gungqisa holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the North and has previously worked for the following companies; Colgate Palmolive, as a Trainee Graduate, Sizwe Medical Services as an Assistant Accountant, Benoni City Council as an Accountant, Eastern Gauteng Services Council (now called Ekurhuleni Metro) as Senior Accountant and Department of Housing as Deputy Director. In 2004, Mr Gungqisa joined Godisa Trust as Chief Financial Officer. When the Trust was dissolved and re-established as Seda Technology Programme, Mr Gungqisa was one of the first people to report for duty, even the Chief Executive Officer joined the Trust after a couple of days. Mr Gungqisa developed and implemented financial policies and procedures and topped that with having three years of unqualified audit reports during his service with the Trust. Married with four children, Mr Gungqisa believes in playing an active role in his community and has held various positions in the school governing body. When he does have spare time, he likes to read, is an avid runner and currently holds two board memberships at Zenzele Technology Demonstration Centre and Seda Essential Oil Incubator 2007/8.

With the Agency's five-year history of unqualified audit reports, Mr Gungqisa will definitely feel at home running the Agency's financial division. He is warmly welcomed by the Board and Management of the MDDA. Further, the Agency would like to express its unreserved thanks to Mr Jafta who has served the Agency with distinction.
