RBIDZ announced as one of the first sites for liquefied natural gas power plantsThe Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone (RBIDZ) is extremely pleased with the announcement by the Department of Energy at the South Africa Gas Options Conference held in Cape Town that Richards Bay is to be allocated approximately 2,000 megawatts of the 3,126 megawatts allocated to the Gas to Power (G2P) programme. The allocation will result in a multibillion-rand investment in Richards Bay, in both a gas-fired power station, as well as gas infrastructure to gasify liquefied natural gas brought into the harbour by ship and to pipe it to the power plant and other uses. RBIDZ donates 60 indigenous trees as part of the annual Arbor Week campaignSouth Africa celebrates Arbor Week in the first week of September annually. This year, the event was held in the Cinci, KwaMthethwa Area, Mfolozi Local Municipality. RBIDZ donated 60 indigenous trees to schools and crèches in the area.
