Exhibitions - an important element of the marketing mix

EXSA, the Exhibition and Event Association of Southern Africa, will be exhibiting at the Sports and Events Tourism Exchange expo which will be hosted at the ICC Durban from the 12 - 14 September.
Sue Gannon, EXSA's GM, said that it is important that EXSA be represented at this event which provides a platform for industry leaders, and will help to:
  • Pursue bidding and hosting of major international exhibitions and events

  • Promote transformation

  • Promote local federations and associations

  • Showcase South Africa's experience and expertise in hosting and managing large international events

  • Promote home-grown events

  • Promote the provinces and the services which they have to offer

EXSA will be encouraging the growth of the local industries as well as foreign interests at the expo. "As an association for exhibitions and events, it is important that we encourage this not only for our industry but for the betterment of our country overall. We have really been encouraged at the increased interest South Africa is getting from international exhibition organisers. In January we will be partnering again with Manch Communications of India to bring the Expo Africa Summit to SA," continued Sue.

EXSA is continually monitoring the growth in the exhibition industry via the Global Exhibition Association UFI, and it is a fact that exhibitions are a huge source of income, and provide the opportunity for job creation. "The benefits of exhibitions and events in South Africa are numerous, and EXSA promotes this all the way" said Nigel Walker, Chair for EXSA.

"While we are in KZN, EXSA will also be holding a networking meeting for our members which will then allow us to meet our new members," stated Sue Gannon. "We are thrilled at the increase of membership for this region." Nigel Walker will be giving an industry overview at the EXSA networking meeting.
