Primedia has announced the resignation of Monde Tabata, Managing Director of Megapro Marketing, effective as of 1 February 2008.
Tabata has been with Megapro (Primedia Sport), since July 2002, first as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and then as Managing Director from 2004. His tenure has been a celebrated one, during which the company saw phenomenal growth. Megapro was able to capitalise on the amazing opportunities presented by the exciting chapter in South Africa's sporting history. Tabata also spearheaded empowerment within the business, ensuring the employment of young black talent. The company also made acquisitions which saw the formation of Match World, Megaview and Warwick Hospitality. In 2006, Megapro was voted as the leading sports company in the country, out of a survey of the Top 100 Sponsors in South Africa.
Tabata cited personal reasons for his resignation: “It has become critical for me to focus more attention and time on my young family. I'm proud to have worked with South Africa's most diverse media group. One could say that I'm leaving on a high note, the relevant systems are in place to ensure that the company goes from strength to strength.”
George Rautenbach, Executive Chairman of Primedia Sport said, “Monde has played a significant role over the past five years that he has been with the company and we thank him for that. Under his leadership, we saw the innovation of new ideas such as digital ad scrolls which revolutionized our business. While we are sad to see him leave, we wish him all the best for his future business undertakings.”
