The design department of the Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town), considered to be one of the fastest growing independent agencies in South Africa, have kicked off the year on a winning streak and it doesn't seem as if their luck will run out anytime soon. Jupiter (Cape Town) can proudly add several international accolades for their innovative design work to their mantlepiece.
The winning streak kicked off with the Clio Awards, which were announced in May, where they were awarded a Silver Pencil for their revolutionary design of the Design Indaba ‘interactive travel brochure'. The D&AD Awards also took place in May and Jupiter CT was again lauded for their work on the Design Indaba ‘interactive travel brochure' and were awarded an ‘Acceptance into Annual'.
Explaining the creative rationale behind the Design Indaba ‘Interactive travel brochure', Jupiter (Cape Town) Design Director, Joanne Thomas says: “The idea was to create a mail piece that would appeal to overseas speakers attending the International Design Indaba and give them a real taste of what to expect in Cape Town. We wanted to them to be able to interact with things that we believe to be truly South African.”
Jupiter's feet have barely touched the ground and they can now add the prestigious One Show to their international awards tally. They have qualified as finalists in several categories and received two pencils for the Firewise logo and for their work done on Jupiter's own corporate identity campaign, aptly titled: ‘Legends of the Jupiter Drawing Room'.
Hot on the heels of this recent spate of international success are the Cannes Lions, which are in full swing this week and Jupiter Cape Town have been shortlisted in several categories. The Design Indaba ‘Interactive travel brochure' is again featured amongst the selected work. The ‘Pen and Art' campaign for Montblanc and the ‘One Show press campaign' have also made it to the coveted Cannes Lions shortlist. The overall final results will be revealed during the course of the week.
“It is always a great achievement for us to be acknowledged internationally for the work we do. This year has started on a very positive note and we are pleased to see our design work receiving recognition,” comments Kevan Aspoas, MD for Jupiter (Cape Town).
