Draftfcb South Africa partner agencies continue winning streak

Draftfcb South Africa partner agencies continued their winning streak with a solid performance at last week's Assegai Awards (November 11), which acknowledges excellence in the fields of direct and digital marketing as well as CRM and relationship marketing.

All in all, three of its independent agencies were called to the podium - full service agencies Draftfcb Cape Town and Draftfcb Johannesburg, and digital and relationship marketing specialist, Mesh.

Draftfcb Cape Town was awarded with two Golds for Distell brand, Savanna and its "Retrenchyourself.com" campaign; one in the Website & Microsite category and one in the "Integrated Campaigns" category. The agency also received a Silver in the Online Advertising for Savanna's "Time-wasting Banners" and two Bronzes for the "World of Certainty" campaign for Santam; one for Art Direction and one in the Direct Distribution/Inserts category.

In the past month, Draftfcb Cape Town and its clients have also fared well locally in the Best of Joburg Awards and Time Times/Sowetan Retail Awards as well as internationally at the Midas Awards.

Draftfcb Johannesburg followed up its successful Loerie Awards showing where it took three Golds, two Silvers as well as several Bronzes and Craft awards with a Merit from Assegais in the Creative Solutions category for Prius "Grow a Plant".

Digital and interactive specialist, Mesh, which has only been trading as an independent entity for a short while excelled with a Gold in the TV, Infomercials & Radio category for Lexus with the controversial "Pie charts" campaign.

It is enjoying a fruitful first year taking top honours in the inaugural Creative Circle Ad of the Month Awards for Digital and with a Silver and a Bronze at The Loerie Awards for Vodacom in the Experiential: Digital - Viral and the Experiential: Non-Broadcast Video & Film categories.

Commenting on the results, Draftfcb South Africa Chief Creative Officer, Brett Morris, said that, with the growing focus on direct marketing, digital, CRM and relationship marketing, building skills sets in these areas is vital. He said the agencies' performances at the Assegais were proof that they were getting it right while retaining their creative edge.
