FCB South Africa appoints new group MD

Selomane Maitisa joined FCB South Africa in June this year as its Group Managing Director. A B.Com, UED and MBA graduate, Maitisa grew up in Mamelodi East, Tshwane. She has also completed the MAP (Management Advancement Programme) at Wits Business School.

Coming on the back of FCB South Africa's recently concluded a 49,9% South African ownership deal, Selomane's appointment will further entrench its position in the transformation arena by increasing the number of senior black women in the group, as well as raising its black board representation to 60%. She will also join the ranks of staff that were given a shareholding in FCB South Africa; currently over 40 black staff members participate in the share scheme.

Commenting on Selomane's appointment, FCB South Africa Group Chief executive Officer, Neil van der Weele, said he and his board members anticipate she will add tremendous value to the organisation and its clients' businesses.

“Selomane is a great addition to the FCB SA family. Not only does she have extensive experience in strategy and marketing, she brings with her a wealth of insight and understanding of the new South African business environment. Most significantly, her unorthodox approach to the communication challenges is refreshingly inspiring. We are thrilled she has joined us,” he said.

Prior to joining FCB South Africa, Selomane was General Manager of Corporate Development at the Land Bank, and prior to that she held senior positions in various organisations, including Metropolitan Health Group (Corporate Affairs Executive) where she was Executive Director, South African Rail Commuter Corporation (SARCC) as Marketing and Communications Executive, Apple Computer SA (Marketing and Communications Manager). She has also held various brand management positions at Unilever and SmithKline Beecham.
