School shoes for students of Injonga Primary

Inspired by the Mandela legacy, Ms Mandisa Njozela, the Student Support and Development Officer, and the SRC of False Bay TVET College for the Khayelitsha campus, as part of their SRC Project, is committing to keeping the legacy alive by campaigning for school shoes.
Based on the success of her previous year’s campaign, the college, with the support of it colleagues and networks, campaigned to grow the initiative. Over 100 pairs of school shoes and socks were donated by the SRC through fundraising and the FBC staff, with the added support of Solethu Energy, Bokwe Security and Old Mutual, either through actual shoe or cash donations.

The SRC identified Injongo Primary School as the recipient this year. “Ms Mandisa Njozela said, “It is a challenge to choose just one school to help, as there are so many schoolchildren who need assistance. Each year, SSO and SRC try to grow the collection, hoping that we will be able to help more, because there is such a great need. These children come from dire circumstances. We don’t want the lack of a pair of school shoes to be the reason they drop out of school.”

A joyful occasion, individuals from the donating companies in attendance helped the young learners fit on their new shoes. The learners expressed their gratitude by preparing choir, drama and dance performances.
