Altech Netstar and Traffic Freeflow enter into pilot project

Altech® Netstar and Altech® Netstar Traffic have joined forces with Traffic Freeflow, who originated and continue to manage the highly successful Privatised Pointsmen Project in conjunction with OUTsurance, the City of Joburg and JMPD, as well as Media Partner, 702 Talk Radio.
Altech® Netstar currently provides Traffic Freeflow with a vehicle tracking and recovery solution for the OUTsurance Mobile Pointsmen motorcycles, while this partnership will serve as a pilot project to enable the two entities to assess the possible benefits with an anticipated positive spin-off in terms of in-field resource management and Pointsman deployment.

By combining Altech® Netstar's Vigil and VBU505 tracking solution as well as Altech® Netstar Traffic's congestion alert system, Traffic Freeflow is now able to reference the location of the Mobile Pointsmen relative to traffic pressure points.

The aim is that Traffic Freeflow will now be able to, via a "bird's eye-view", monitor the impact their team has on road congestion, and proactively manage and dispatch their Pointsmen accordingly.

This valuable tool now also allows Traffic Freeflow to monitor areas where congestion is building up in relation to traffic signal failures, notification of which is provided to Traffic Freeflow by various partners such as the 702 Traffic Desk, the public and JMPD, and make calculated decisions as to the deployment of their team.

Altech® Netstar and Altech® Netstar Traffic recognise the importance of traffic safety as well as the value of contributing to the community and are proud to support an initiative such as Traffic Freeflow and the OUTsurance Mobile Pointsmen.
