The awards were launched this year to recognise the 702 OUTsurance pointsmen and women who direct traffic at important intersections during peak hours. Many of these pointspeople go the extra mile to make a significant difference in the lives of Joburg's motorists.
Listeners are asked to nominate their favourite pointsman or woman and share their story of how that person helps them make it to work, and home again, on time.
Jeanette Muller wrote into Talk Radio 702 and nominated Andrew and Michael who are based at the intersection of Marcia and Broadway in Bruma.
"I heard about the traffic lights that were out before I'd even left my home in Kempton Park and knew the journey to work was going to be a nightmare," she wrote. "To my amazement there was no back up of traffic as the OUTsurance angels were there to help motorists get to work on time. They were a true Godsend, my sincere thanks to them for assisting us."
Micheal and Andrew have won a R5 000 voucher from Builders Warehouse for their commendable performance and dedication and will go into the annual competition for the OUTsurance Poinstman of the Year award.
Jeanette wins a R1 000 Builders Warehouse voucher to thank her for taking the time to recognise the pointsmen. To nominate your 702 OUTsurance pointsman or woman, visit
