"We receive so much great feedback on the 702 OUTsurance pointspeople," explained 702's trafficologist, Aki Anastasiou. "We wanted to pass this on to the individuals who make such a difference to our journeys through the traffic each day and reward those who go the extra mile."
The OUTshine Awards ask motorists to nominate pointsmen and women who go the extra mile, via www.702.co.za
. From these nominations, a monthly winner will be named, and rewarded with a R5 000 voucher from Builders Warehouse.
At the end of the year, the most popular monthly winners will be awarded a first, second and third place overall prize and will win R40 000, R25 000 and R15 000 respectively in Builder's Warehouse vouchers.
Motorists who are unsure of their pointspeople's names can identify them on the website by locating the intersection where they are based. "We encourage motorists to share their special stories in the nominations as we want to pass these on to our pointspeople, to show them what a big difference they are making," said Colleen Bekker, of Traffic Freeflow which runs the 702 OUTsurance Pointsmen project.
"It is a great opportunity to give the individuals recognition for a job well done, and to motivate the whole team to continue to do their utmost to get motoriststhrough the traffic as quickly as possible. We'd love to hear about instances where a pointsperson got you to that important meeting or your kid's first soccer match in the nick of time, for example," said Peter Cronje from OUTsurance.
The first award will be for the month of February. For more information on the project and to nominate your pointsperson, visit www.702.co.za
