3D Deco - Eco journey

I am writing this article to awaken the corporate sector of the population towards eco sustainable living. Corporates have the ability to transform our planet and all its inhabitants in any direction due to the large funds that are available.
I am really disappointed how all of us support this fake reality with our wallets. Everything that we see around us is destroying this planet at exponential rate and no one is even bothering to do anything about it. We are just floating about in a very convenient way thinking that this is the only way to live on this planet through shopping at supermarkets, watching a huge amount of TV that has proven to make us numb, eating and drinking toxic chemicals in our food, tap water and cold drinks. We kill billions of animals to feed our stomachs and mine our planet to death so we can wear gold and diamonds and so the list goes on and on and on and on.

I know it is very difficult to change the whole world straight away but surely we can start on micro scale in our home and office, with the way we make our choices.

We have done a permaculture, organic food and medicinal herb growing workshop as a company and what a lovely team-building exercise it was. Everyone enjoyed getting a little dirty and a month later we came and ate what we had planted. If you have not done one yet then do yourself a favour, give yourself the gift of learning how to make the earth work magic for you and your staff in an enjoyable way. 3D Deco also has just purchased a bio-diesel plant so all our vehicles will be soon running on cooking oil. We recycle all our paper and we are busy organising a glass recycling bin for the entire office park. As an individual I managed to change 12 media publications to Sappi triple green paper therefore saving 1,000,000 trees in the next 10 years by simply letting them know that I will not advertise with them if they carry on printing on wood paper.

  • Here are a few ideas on what you can do to be more eco friendly at home and work.
  • Only print on non-wood paper or recyclable paper as this does not promote deforestation. Even better move towards online so your catalogue can be found there and you just print a small well designed pamphlet to drive traffic to your website.
  • When doing event or at the office use cups that can be rewashed as oppose to polystyrene ones.
  • Recycle paper and glass - bins provided from the glass recycling company.
  • Invest into energy for life - solar geyser as well as solar cooker with lifetime guarantee.
  • Think before you print and if you can, print on the backside.
  • Support companies that are more eco friendly, you have the power to vote with your wallet.
  • Plan your travelling routes.
  • Never dispose of left-over food, rather donate them to charities.
  • Dedicated recycle bins are a must at any event/exhibition, home or an office.
  • Use biodegradable detergents from triple orange and hand wash from Victorian garden.
  • Recycle all grey water so that you can use it again to grow vegetables and flush the toilets with.
  • Start growing your own food with love and earthworms in a permaculture way. Compost heap or an earthworm bin is a must in order to grow food organically. It is loads of fun and you can do it with your children.
  • Try and fill up water from a filter as opposed to be buying plastic bottles. It takes 2L of water to make 500ml plastic bottle - this is what conscious consumerism is all about.

Keep our planet sustainable, spread the knowledge, know the context, stay positive, act now!
